Memphis vs Kansas 12-7-10 Game Recap

#4 Kansas was favored to defeat the #14 Memphis Tigers by 11 points, and won by 13, 81 to 68.  We cannot win games getting outrebounded 44 to 33 against a team like Kansas. Angel Garcia at 6'11 got 1 rebound; Spoon got 2 rebounds, DJ Stepehens got 0, Will Coleman got 3, & Tarik Black got 4 rebounds. We have to get more production out of our big men, both defensively & offensively in order to win the big games.

Kansas is a team to study and learn from. They got 19 assists to our 10, and they are a walking definition of a team. They beat the pants off us in the paint, both offensively and defensively. They shot much better than us with 57% vs our dismal 37%, and they produced an astounding 55% from the 3 pt line vs our 32%.

I will say that I liked our hustle. Our foul shooting was much better than theirs at 73% vs Kansas' 58%. However, as much as I love JJ, he simply failed to lead last night for some reason, having 4 TO's and only 1 point. We seemed rattled quite often and off our game, while Kansas seemed poised and confident, which always seems to produce great field goal percentages.

Although a bit late, Will Barton stepped up to lead our team in rebounds with 7 rebounds!!!!! Well done Will; not bad for a guard! Will Barton also lead our team with 16 points! All in all, I am excited about the learning experience and the youthful talent we have. We will only get better, and should get through much of this by March, but we have lots of work to do. Go Tigers!!!!!
